Bob wrote (with Matt Gaffney) Two For The Show, a film script placing second twice- Baltimore Film Festival and with the SkyFest contest. Bob’s CarTTalk, a humor/golf course review appeared in Pub-Links magazine and was a regular feature with The Charlotte Observer’s charlotte.com. Bob appeared on Up Close with Roy Firestone.
Numerous Bob pieces have appeared in Sports Illustrated and SI for Kids; he published with TV GUIDE; Field&Stream; Baseball Digest; Golf Digest, Chicago Magazine; North Carolina Magazine; NC State; FORD TIMES; The N&O, The Baltimore Sun. FanFare, a Bob column for sports fans, appeared regularly in The Salisbury Post. Bob was one of three judges for the national 2014 Casey Award which honors the Best Baseball Book of the Year.
As a result of his new website, www.storiesbygrumps.com, he has contributed to a national column for grandparents in GRAND MAGAZINE (25,000 readers www.grandmagazine.com). His new Grumps website was featured on WRAL-TV and WRAL. Com (more than one million hits per page per month). A Hats Off with the North Carolina Writers’ Network (1,500 members) and The Atlanta Writers Club (800 members) brought attention to the Grumps website and his proposed Grumps’ Classics for Kids book.
In recent months Bob placed first in the Atlanta Writers Club 50 words or less contest and was awarded a 'recommended' (above Honorable Mention) among the award-winning finalists in the British-based Morgen Bailey 100-word competition.
Bob wrote for NC State University for thirty-four years–news, features, sports, fund-raising events, TV and radio, marketing programs, and the Chancellor’s speeches and annual reports.
